Maternity portraits that look like your life — the noise, the love, and everyone in it.
Pregnancy is a personal experience, equal parts exciting, overwhelming, and messy. After mrore thana decade photographing pregnancies around Spokane and the Inland NW, I’ve learned it isn’t the perfect outfits or spotless homes that matter. It's the details. It's your dog creating chaos. Your toddler zooming about. The moments that create photos that feel.
From urban photos in Downtown Spokane to a walk through the Little Spokane, your pregnancy photos are set up to create a space for this chapter of your story to start in a way that's inclusive and supportive.
You don’t need to prep for a maternity session like it’s a big production. Just come as you are with the people who make up your world right now. Kids with big feelings? Perfect. Dogs glued to your side? I’m ready. I roll with whatever this season looks like. I’ll give direction when it helps and keep things moving so you’re never stuck wondering what to do. The goal is simple: photos that feel like the season you're in not a production.
My pregnancy photos with Spokane families aren’t about posing perfectly. They’re about you settling in with the people (and pets) who make this season feel grounded. I pay attention to the small interactions you barely notice. A hand on your belly. A kid leaning in. A dog refusing to leave your side. Connection shows up on its own when everyone feels comfortable, and that’s the space I create for my families.
Great, storytelling maternity photos don’t happen by chance. I have 11 years of experience that let me read a moment, adjust a pose, fix the small things, and make you feel like the camera isn’t a big deal. I give you direction that works and skip anything that looks stiff or overdone. The goal isn’t to act; it’s to feel comfortable so the photos tell your story, not someone else's.

Maternity sessions aren’t a solo event. Toddlers bring the chaos, partners wait for instructions, and dogs assume they’re the main character. That’s all part of it. You don’t need perfect prep or matching outfits. Just show up with your people, and I’ll guide things so it feels natural without being stiff. The goal is simple: maternity photos that feel like your family, not a staged performance.
+ Classic , timeless poses with a mix of storytelling lifestyle photographs
+ Inclusive of everyone: Toddlers, dogs, and even partners that aren't sure about being there (I'll win them over, promise)
+ A location that is easy to navigate and feels like your family's vibe.
+ I'll never leave you hanging, guidance and instruction based on years of experience with expecting families.
KIANA 2021, SPOKANE, WA
…MaryBeth came into our home and made us feel so comfortable. I wasn’t worried about my home being perfect, or my hair and makeup being done, or making sure my newborn and my dog were going to cooperate. MaryBeth was so kind and patient and did a wonderful job working around baby’s schedule and capturing candid moments of our new little family (including our camera shy border collie)! My husband, whose not a picture guy AT ALL, loves how well the photos turned out and made sure we booked her for our first family session this fall.”
“MARYBETH IS AN OUTSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHER!
Brittany F | Spokane, WA 2021
Turn around time is incredibly timely and her artistic style is really genuine, photojournalistic with deep colors and contrast. She captures moments I don't even notice are happening and they end up being some of my favorite shots. Lastly, the prints and albums are exceptional quality....even better than the online gallery. MB was the first photographer to convince me of this and now I'll never go back to storing beautiful photos on thumb drives and never looking at them again.”

“MaryBeth did our family photos and it was a great experience! I was worried about my young kids and newborn cooperating. She got down on their level. Nothing was rushed and as a result we have some of the best family pictures ever! Would definitely recommend her as your next photographer!”

I mean the pictures are nice but I figured it really wasn’t worth spending the money. Boy was I wrong! She cared so much about capturing Fenris for who he is and our genuine relationship. I can’t wait to have a session with my other dog! 💖 I really encourage anyone in the Spokane area to check her out! I ordered 7 prints; they are all high quality, glossy photo paper and look amazing framed. If you look on her website at her portfolio, her pictures of humans are pretty good too ;)”
This experience completely changed my mind about professional photo shoots with my dogs
CM 2021 | Cannon Beach, OR
Do not hesitate! I have 2 special needs dogs which can make some photographers nervous, but this was far from the case! It was so fun, calm and just a great day. Not to mention the pictures are perfection!!! I take photos yearly; these are my all time favorites!”

Newborn photos are storytelling sessions for the entire family. Let's even include your dogs!
Your photos deserve more than a life in the cloud. Professional prints and wall art are how they become part of your home instead of something you scroll past once a year. Plus, they don’t get lost when your phone decides to update itself at the worst possible moment.
Your finished gallery lands in your inbox within two weeks. Once it’s ready, you can choose your favorite images and order professional prints, albums, or wall art directly from your gallery.
When the day arrives, all you need to do is show up with your crew — toddlers, partner, dog, whoever is part of this chapter. I’ll walk you through everything so it never feels awkward or overly posed. We’ll get the kind of maternity photos that look like your life, not a photoshoot you had to “perform.”
7-10 days out we will connect and choose the best location for your maternity photos. Whether that's at home, at Mt Spokane or even downtown we will pick the best spot for your story.
Ideally, the best time for maternity photos is around 28-32 weeks. You're showing but still comfortable. However, it's best to get on my schedule early. Depending on how you're feeling throughout your pregnancy, I always make space to adjust. Wondering about scheduling newborns?
Fill out my simple contact form and I’ll be in touch with full session details. If need be, we can chat on the phone about the session and what to expect. I serve families in Spokane, Central and Eastern, Washington State
You don't have to hit the trail for maternity photos. See how we celebrated this pregnancy in Downtown Spokane.
Ever wondered if you really need a studio for professional baby photos? Spoiler: you don’t. Here’s what it actually looks like when I come to you.
The Little Spokane Natural area is a fantastic option for maternity photos, especially if you live on the northside. Check out this sunrise session.
If you're new to the idea of in-home newborn photography or you're you'd more information about newborn and maternity photography services I offer in the Inland NW, head to the blog. Three of my favorites are below to get your started.

Most families book their maternity session between 28 and 32 weeks. It’s that sweet spot where you’re showing well but not yet in the “this baby could come any day” zone. That said, every pregnancy feels different, and I always defer to what you feel ready for. If you’re feeling good earlier or want to wait a bit longer, we’ll make it work.
The important part is getting on the books to hold your spot.
Step one: make sure everyone’s fed and rested. Toddlers, partners, dogs… the whole crew runs smoother with snacks and naps. Step two: try on your clothes a few days before so you’re not surprised on session day. If you need help picking outfits or figuring out what works best, I’m here for that too.

You’ll get a blend of modern fine art portraits (the kind everyone needs at least one or two of) and the natural, unscripted moments that happen all around them. Moments with toddlers being... toddlers and your dog who can't sit still.
I’ll direct you into a few of the classic poses, but let your genuine connections take over. Together, they create a maternity gallery that feels polished, personal, and most importantly, like you.
03. What’s your posing style?
1000% yes. Your dogs are your original babies and I fully believe we should hold space for them at our newborn photo shoots too!
Shooting with dogs in a home environment can be a bit tricky as they aren't sure about someone coming into their space with a large device in front of their face. PLUS a new baby can equal stress.
However, after shooting most of my sessions with dogs I've learned a few tricks. The most important one is to give them space and let them naturally flow in the session.

04. Can I include my dogs?
You have two opportunities to order professional wall art and products. When you first receive your booking proposal, you'll see options to add on art packages. This is the best time to bundle items together at the best rate.
After you receive your gallery, you will have access to a custom store for your photos. At this time you can order prints, metals, canvases and other premium quality photo products. All products bought through your store are high quality and additionally retouched for long lasting enjoyment.
In general, around 5 days to 2 weeks after birth, but I've had great sessions closer to the 2-month mark. Every family, every baby is a bit different.
My style of newborn photography lends itself better to earlier photos at home. If you want to check out more of my work, head to my newborn photography page for more details.
06. When do you schedule newborn photos?
Save the props and Photoshop for later. With a connection-first approach, we’ll embrace the simplistic beauty from pregnancy to a newborn baby
