It fills my soul to recognize, honor, and create a legacy that revolves around your story.

Spokane, WA Photographer

That’s what I want to see when we work together. My mission is to honor the way you connect with the world around you, to see your story, and understand what makes you and your life one of a kind. This is how I lift others up as a Spokane, WA photographer.

Now I’m not talking about those grand, pat-on-the-back moments; I’m talking about living in your space and really owning it.

When was the last time you felt seen?

Our time together might be epic, but most of the time, it won’t be and that means we’re doing something right. Instead, we’ll create little moments that immerse you, just briefly, leaving you wanting more and looking forward to that next aha.

I’m a believer of little moments.

The Experience

Like when I’m with my dog on a local trail, caffeinated with a local Indaba brew and wrapped up in an incredible landscape. All I can think in these instances is, “Yes, this is what I want my life to be about.”

These brief aha experiences make up all the chaos and connections that become our stories and you know what? They are epic. That’s what I want to capture — the moments that are wild in imperfections and yet so characteristically you.

Nowadays, I stay off the beaten track photographing the people, dogs, and brands who feel the same way. Together, we’ll take photos that reflect your life in a real, honest, and irreplaceable way.

I was that girl who didn’t fall under the typical requirements for a photoshoot. My dog was too wild to sit for a photo and I am not trendy. Who was I to sit on a blanket and say cheese? (Also, I'm not an edgy type either)

For the last several years, I’ve used photography as a way to combine my untamable love for adventure with the best parts of life — dogs, people, and the community. My goal, though, beyond taking modern and adventurous photos, is to break the mold. I recognize that so many families and businesses don’t fit the norm, and if I’m honest with you, the norm is way less fun.

I’m MaryBeth and I kiss dogs.

When I got the chance to kick my corporate job to the curb and go all in with photography, I set out to create space precisely for that crowd of down-to-earth, dog-loving people.

So where do us adventurers and easygoing, please-don’t-force-me-into-a-strange-pose sort of people go?

The Approach

The mainstream route says to document “perfect” moments and in doing so, I believe we get further and further from the beauty of reality. It becomes curated. So instead, we’ll kick it back with a stress-free, down-to-earth session that is real and not ever forced.

1. If I’m being perfectly honest.

2. More than pet friendly.

You could say I’m pet friendly, but it’s more that I photograph dogs and happen to be people friendly. If you have a dog, a duck, or a horse, I want you and your pet at the session. If we’re telling a story, your pet is an undeniable part of that story.

3. Holding space for you as you are.

I’ve said it and I’ll say it again. I want the unabashed, unreserved, and unpolished version of you. It’s about time we honor the way you actually spend most of your days, and who you spend them with. All people, pets, and families are welcome here.

It’s not complicated and it’s definitely not curated.

The rough sketch of how I work

I know you’re already wondering.

My dog’s name is Quigley.

The Dog of my life

I donate a portion of profits from every session with a pet to local
animal rescue.

Which means… if you bring your dog to a family shoot, include them in your branding session, sneak them into newborn photos or even have your dog as the best man at your wedding, I'll share the love with local pets that need homes.

Serve you...

Kindness and compassion drive the way I interact with my clients, partners, and those whose paths cross mine. I promise to respect you for the unique individual that you are. My images will honor your individuality and I will show my respect by helping you hold your space and not altering it for a perceived creative gain in the image.

Treat everyone with kindness and respect...

I will not compromise morals, ethics, and values for the sake of a profit.

Act with integrity

I strive to understand and observe where someone is holding space —their values and connections. Let this observation of one’s space drive the vision of the image not the vision of the image drive a creation of space.

Capture and not curate

I value building and maintaining relationships, creating an experience in which others feel comfortable starting as a client, but leaving as a friend.

The commitment

I promise to

8. old dogs

I’m a wife and mom. (Our son is young and thinks I’m still cool so I am monopolizing on that for as long as I can. I love taking adventures with him.)

7. wife and mother

I really want to be better at yoga. (I’m trying hard to nail a handstand without needing a wall.)

6. Child's pose, not Chaturanga

5. Gettings families outdoors

Believe it or not, I was a competitive figure skater long, long ago.

4. Hitting the ice

3. MORNINGS ARE SACRED

Being outside and exploring new places balances my mind and calms my soul.

2. Calms my soul

I love dogs and the way they turn out to be exactly what you need.

to put it matter of factly

A Set of unblemished facts...

For 6 years, I ran a group geared at getting new families back outdoors after having kids.

Mornings are sacred to me and I work hard not to miss that routine.

It’s on my bucket list to build a senior dog home where shelter dogs can happily retire.

The Lowdown

I hate goodbyes and with photos, it’s almost like we can avoid it.
